I’m Elise Vanbergue. I have a phD in animal science. I’ve been working for 5 years as a project manager at IDELE (French Livestock Institute) in the Health and Welfare Unit. IDELE is a non-profit, non-governmental R&D organization, appointed by the French ministry of agriculture as technical center for agriculture (member of ITA network). Our R&D activities generate technical solutions to ruminants’ farmers, to value chains economic actors, complying with social issues such as animal welfare, traceability, environmental footprint. Our activities encompass: applied research, studies, technical assistance, and technology transfer, in the following fields: genetics, animal husbandry, environment, animal health and welfare, products quality, value chains and commodity chains economics, livestock systems, farm human resources, information systems, and international cooperation. In RUMIGEN, we will be working on the impacts of heat stress and fetal programming on calves health and performances thanks to an experimental model and epigenetic tools. I would be particularly involved in the Health and Physiology aspects of the project.
